Our vaccination programs are tailored to suit your pet’s lifestyle, age, and health status, ensuring they receive the best protection throughout their lives.
There are two main types of vaccines: core and non-core. Core vaccines are recommended for all pets because they protect against serious, widespread diseases. For dogs, core vaccines include those for rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus. For cats, they include vaccines for rabies, feline panleukopenia, calicivirus, and herpesvirus. Non-core vaccines, such as those for bordetella (kennel cough), leptospirosis, or feline leukemia, may be recommended based on your pet’s exposure risk.
At Creekview Animal Hospital, your pet’s first visit includes a thorough exam followed by a vaccination schedule specifically designed for them. Puppies and kittens require a series of vaccinations starting at 6–8 weeks old and continuing every few weeks until about 16 weeks. Booster shots are administered at regular intervals to ensure lasting immunity.
Vaccines not only protect your pet but also prevent the spread of contagious diseases in the community. Some vaccines, like rabies, are legally required due to public health concerns.
